Winter
While we fish all year round, January to mid-April is not for the faint of heart. We are doing light tackle for Stripers that are wintering over. This can be a feast or famine situation and is strictly catch and release.
Spring
From the 3rd Saturday in April through May 15th, Trolling for Trophy Sized Striped Bass is normally the game. We will do light tackle catch and release trips, but most folks are looking for that monster Rockfish. Limit is 1 per person. Bonus points for releasing large fish.
Mid-May through mid-June is prime light tackle on schools of fish and breaking birds. We spend a lot of time looking for the schools, but the wait is worth it with 50 plus fish days are not uncommon. Limit usually is 2 fish per person.
Summer
The past several years has seen the striped bass moving to above the Bay Bridge in late June / early July, Live lining spot/perch can be very productive. Jigging structure can also effective. This pattern normally remains in place through August.
Other options for June/July is to the southern part of the bay and target Cobia and Red Drum. Never a sure thing, the fight that a Cobia provides is memorable. Catch and release fishing for trophy Red Drum can be exciting, fish over 50”s are caught every year.
Fall
September-December is a run and gun. Searching for birds working over breaking fish. November and Early December can be to best fishing of the year.
